Common Questions

Four ways: Shelf Scan reads your whole counter from one photo, Haul Import adds several new products at once, or add a single product by barcode, photo, or manual entry. Tap the + button on the Shelf tab to get started.
When you add a product, Skinventry uses AI to analyze each ingredient. Every ingredient receives a safety rating (Excellent, Good, Fair, Poor, or Avoid), along with information about its benefits, what skin types it's best for, and whether it's comedogenic. You can view the full analysis on any product's detail page.
The Shelf Assistant is a chat that knows your shelf — your products, skin type, and sensitivities — so answers come back specific to what you actually own. Ask about layering, conflicts, or what to use tonight. The free plan includes a monthly allowance of chats; Premium is unlimited. Note: This is an AI assistant, not a medical professional. Always consult a dermatologist for medical concerns.
Every Sunday, Skinventry writes you a short letter about your week on the shelf — what you used, what sat idle, what expires soon. It's free for everyone, every week. Premium keeps your complete archive and can rewrite the current week's letter on demand.
Set the PAO (Period After Opening) for each product — usually printed on the packaging as a number followed by "M" (e.g., 12M = 12 months). When you mark a product as "In Use," Skinventry automatically calculates the expiration date. The Expiration Calendar shows all products color-coded by status: safe, expiring soon, or expired.
Yes. Skinventry is local-first — all your data is stored on your device by default. Cloud sync is optional and only activated if you create an account. Your progress photos are stored locally and never uploaded without your explicit action. We never sell or share your personal data.
Free includes the shelf, routines, and the Sunday Skin Read every week, plus a monthly allowance of Shelf Scans and Assistant chats. Skinventry Premium — $4.99/week, $9.99/month, or $49.99/year — keeps your complete Skin Read archive, rewrites the week's letter on demand, and removes every limit: unlimited scans, products, routines, and Assistant chats, plus share cards and full data export.
Go to the Routines tab and tap "Create morning routine" or "Create evening routine." Select products from your shelf for each step. Once set up, you can track daily completion and build streaks. The AI can also suggest what to use tonight based on your skin's needs.
Yes! Go to your Profile and tap Progress Photos. Use the in-app camera with the face guide overlay to take consistent photos. You can tag photos by area (face, cheeks, forehead, chin, body) and compare photos side-by-side over time to see your skin's progress.
Subscriptions are managed through Apple. Go to Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions on your iPhone, find Skinventry, and tap "Cancel Subscription." You'll continue to have Premium access until the end of your current billing period.
Go to Profile > Delete Account. This will remove your cloud data. Local data on your device can be cleared by uninstalling the app. If you have an active subscription, remember to cancel it separately through Apple's subscription management.

Scan your shelf

Open the app and tap the + button. Use Shelf Scan to capture your whole counter in one photo, import a haul, scan a barcode, or enter details manually. Everything lands on your shelf with full ingredient analysis.

Set up your skin profile

Go to Profile > Skin Profile and set your skin type, concerns, and sensitivities. This personalizes your AI recommendations and ingredient warnings.

Build your routine

Head to the Routines tab and create your morning and evening routines from products on your shelf. Start building daily streaks.

Read your first Sunday letter

Sunday morning, the Read tab has a letter about your week on the shelf — what worked, what idled, what comes next. In between, ask the Shelf Assistant anything about your own products.
