Report a mistake
If a fact looks wrong or out of date, tell us the product, what the app showed, and a source if you have one. We check it against the record and fix it.
Manage or cancel Pro
Apple handles billing. On your iPhone open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Skinventry. Cancel at least a day before renewal to avoid the next charge.
Restore purchases
New phone or reinstalled the app? Sign in to the App Store with the Apple ID you subscribed with, open Skinventry and tap Restore purchases in Profile or on the Pro screen. There is no Skinventry account to sign in to.
Common questions
Do I need a barcode?
No. Photograph the product, its packaging or its label: a shirt tag, a cereal box, a bottle of shampoo, the side of a shoe box. Skinventry reads the name, the brand and whatever else is printed on it and identifies the product from that. You can also look a product up by name.
Why does a lookup say “not found yet”?
Skinventry only shows what it can attribute to a source. When it looks for something, such as where a product is made or who owns a brand, and cannot verify it, it says so plainly instead of guessing. Research is cached, so as more public information turns up the answer can fill in later. If you know a source we missed, send it to us.
Why are there no scores?
Skinventry does not score, grade or endorse products or companies, and no company pays to be listed, ranked or left out. It shows what is on the record, who said it and when, and leaves the judgment to you.
Can it check a product for my allergies?
It can flag what you ask it to look for, like tree nuts, sesame, fragrance or parabens, when it appears on the published ingredient list or label, and it names the match and the source. If no ingredient list is published, it says the product couldn’t be checked. It never calls a product safe, so always check the package.
Where do the sources come from?
Every fact carries a badge for the kind of source behind it, and links to it.
Official is the company about itself: its website, filings it wrote, press releases. Government is regulators, courts and public records, such as the FDA, FTC, CPSC, USDA, EPA and SEC. Independent is journalism, research, certifiers and third party organizations.
Is it only for skincare?
No. Skincare is where Skinventry started, but you can photograph clothing, food, shoes, household products, cosmetics and anything else with a label.
What happens to my photos?
Your photos stay on your phone. To identify a product, a smaller copy of the photo goes through Skinventry’s server to its AI provider, and Skinventry keeps no copy. Your settings stay on your phone too. What you search is saved on Skinventry’s servers while Share my searches is on. The privacy policy has the details.
How do I delete my searches?
Turn off Share my searches in You. Skinventry stops saving what you search and deletes your name, email and past searches from its servers; everything on your phone stays. You can also email support@skinventry.com and we will delete them.
What does Pro cost?
Your first two searches are free, each with the full record. Pro is $49.99 a year, $9.99 a month or $4.99 a week, billed by Apple, and includes 30 searches a month. Anything you’ve searched opens again free. Pro renews automatically until you cancel it in your Apple ID settings.
